Please read through the page to best educate yourself on what this course is all about.

Creating this course has been a true labor of love. We hope that this content helps to further you along on your flower pressing journey. We filmed this course using flowers that were growing in our climate at the time of filming, with the exception of Stock flower. Our hope is to continue to build upon this course once Spring flowers come back into bloom. As we evolve and continue to learn new skills, we will add this knowledge to this course, meaning this course will evolve.

Being able to achieve satisfactory results when pressing flowers can sometimes be a very frustrating task, but we hope this course minimizes some of the hardships you've experienced thus far on your flower pressing journey. If you're a total newb in this space and have never pressed a flower in your life, our hope is that this course takes you to the finish line much more quickly than you trying to do it by yourself.

When we are having frustrating moments with this business or something doesn't come out as we imagined it to, we always think of these two quotes: "Comparison is the thief of joy" and "Perfection is the enemy of progress". Just keep going. You learn by doing. Happy learning. Happy Pressing.

What is Included in the Course?

You will get an insiders look on how we press our own flowers.

We have pressed thousands of flowers and have spent a lot of time, energy, and resources learning how to correctly press countless varieties of flowers. We aren't holding anything back in the teaching of this course and we will be continuing to upload new content to this course. We hope this information becomes helpful to you whether you are planning to start your own business pressing flowers or are a hobbyist.

This course does not have fluff. Many hours were spent editing it to strictly give information and to eliminate the fluff. This is not an off the cuff live recording. Minutes are not taken up answering other peoples' questions. This course has been edited to be very succinct and to the point. We have purchased courses for a number of reasons in our lives and its frustrating to listen to a video that is 1 hour long when it could have been 15 minutes of succinct info. We know most people live fairly busy lives and we do not intend to waste your time.

Our hope for this page is that the community that purchased this course, along with us, will moderate and help to answer questions to the best of all of our knowledge. Here, you will be able to become part of a community of fellow flower pressers and be able to seek out information, get help in trouble shooting problems, and gain other valuable flower pressing knowledge. There are so many flowers/foliage/fungi/veggies/fruits we have not explored in the pressing world and this group can be a modge podge of insight for all of us.

We will be adding new content to this course through 2024. We will elaborate on the peony section when they come back into bloom and address any other repetitive questions to things we may have overlooked or weren't clear enough on. As you learn, we will be learning along side you and we will always try to improve upon our knowledge and add updates to this course.

Two in a half hours of no fluff, pre-recorded content along with multiple PDF's (and more to come). Spring session will easily add another hour of filmed content.

Our course is pre-recorded so you can go back and re-watch or reference a portion whenever you need to. It does not have to be consumed in one sitting and is self paced. We will continue to add new content to this course. We think this is better than an in person tutorial because it's hard to retain information when you only hear things once. Also, I don't think we would have even been able to cram 1/4 of the information provided in this course during a typical two hour in person class.

Things to Consider

Flowers + Fading

Pressed flowers will fade over the years. The methods we teach you in this course, while producing vibrant flowers out of the press, will still fade as the years go by. If fading is not for you, pressing flowers may not be for you unless you want to get into color enhancing your flowers with paint. This is not something that we teach nor do ourselves.
Subtitles + Captions

English Captions are included in this course for individuals hard of hearing. We have also added in French, German, and Spanish subtitles. We can't promise they are perfect as we are not bilingual and they were translated with AI.
Cost

$149.99. We will continue to add new content to this course through 2024, especially as spring flowers come back into bloom. We will be elaborating on the peony section as well as adding in other tricky flowers like orchids and mums. This course also comes with a private facebook group where the flower pressing community can help one another resolve issues that they are having. For example, humid climate pressers can troubleshoot together, or you can start a discussion with other members of the group about how to better press a flower you are having trouble with! Or even ask to see if there is anyone that would swap seed packets (as long as you do your invasive species checklist :)). It's strictly a resource for you.
Other Resources

We do have a YouTube channel where we will continue to post free content. We have a blog and a Flower Press Supplies Page on our website. We will not release free content on how we press our flowers on YouTube (this will be added to the course), but we will continue to make short videos on other pressed flower related things, such as how to reconstruct flowers, on our YouTube channel.

Base Materials to get started:

A flower press. We do have a free YouTube tutorial showing how we make our flower presses. If you don't yet have your own press, I created a blog post that shows you how you can get started pressing flowers without a proper flower press.
A cutting board or Mat

Copy Paper, Chipboard, Cardboard (Thicker layers of copy paper can replace the need for chipboard if you don't feel like purchasing it)

Topics NOT covered in this Course

We do not talk about tropical flowers, though I am considering adding in a section on Anthuriums and Orchids.
We do not talk about color enhancing flowers. If you press your flowers correctly, they will maintain their color while being pressed, however they will fade as time passes once framed. This is the natural life of flowers. We love how flowers look as they age and getting into the business of color enhancing flowers is not in our wheelhouse of knowledge. Though it is something we encourage you to learn on your own if it is something that interests you!
This is not a framing course. We plan to make another course this Winter that will show how we frame up our glass on glass pieces and our float mount pieces with the paper backing among other framing topics. It will include material links and best practices of framing.
We do not talk about how to glue flowers in this course. We have a mini course on how to glue flowers on our YouTube Channel.
We do not teach you how to microwave flowers. We do touch upon the microfleur for certain flowers, but this is not a course on "how to microwave your flowers".
We do not teach you how to design with your flowers to make them into an art piece.
We do not teach you how to dry your flowers in silica. We teach you the technique of pressing flowers in a traditional flower press, not in silica. That is an entirely other art form.
We do not teach you the art of preserving your flowers in resin. Again, resin is a total other art form that takes a whole other set of expertise that we do not have.
We do not talk about sealing your pressed flower art to preserve the flowers colors for longer.
We do not talk about how to capture your pressed flower art to make into a print. We may release this info at some point but it will take alot of time as it is a lengthly process to show and explain.

A Note to our Potential Customers

We know a lot of you have been asking if we are going to do any in person workshops, but we find this course far more valuable than a typical two hour in person workshop which a lot of times cost upwards of $150 here in the States. It would be literally impossible for us to cram all of the information offered in this course into a two hour workshop. We'd maybe be able to touch upon a quarter of the information. Plus, if you have questions about anything being talked about in this course, we created a private facebook group where you can ask the community of people there for advice. We will chime in as well when we can.

The wonderful thing about pre-recorded courses is that you can go back and reference them as much as you'd like. Also, we are adding in spring flowers once they come back into bloom. We could have easily made a second course out of spring blooms, but we are choosing to include it in this course. We also have a lot of free resources on our Youtube Channel, our Flower Pressing Supplies Page, and our Blog. We will also continue to post free educational content on topics such as how we reconstruct different flowers if they are not pressed whole to our YouTube channel.

Please know we will not be putting any free information out into the world on how we actually press our flowers outside of the obvious things like the facts that we use a traditional wood press to press most of our flowers.
