Interested in Purchasing an Original?

The Farm Series Originals will be for Sale later this week (June 3rd, 2024). I will send a newsletter out to our mailing list of the exact date and time.

Original Instructions - Please Read

Originals are currently only for sale to residents in the US and that have a US shipping address. Currently, we do not know how to work around other countries customs departments and are uncertain if originals will pass through due to the art being flowers. We do not want to add new species or invasive species to an ecosystem that is not supposed to have these.

Shipping - Purchaser will be responsible for shipping. Purchaser will work with packager/shipping company to work out details. I will send you details of the packaging/shipping company and you will be responsible for communicating with the shipping company. These pieces are shipped UNFRAMED and in a way to help preserve the art piece.

**Please note that we are not responsible for packaging and shipping and we do not accept returns. I would recommend insuring the art as its a due diligence kind of thing and is a minimal cost to do so. There are small chances that flowers can come undone in the shipping process, and we are not responsible for refunding if this occurs.

Fading - Please note that these are natural flowers without a protective layer on them. We do not seal flowers as it can distort the final image. Flower colors will fade. Some flowers will fade more than others depending on the flower pigment. Some will fade quicker than others.

Care - It is best to NOT hang these in direct sunlight. Indirect is your friend. Do not hang above a stove or fireplace or in a bathroom.

Framing - When framing these, the framer should add spacers between the glass and the art. Over time, it is reasonable to expect flower debris/seeds/pollen to come off and rest at the bottom of the frame. Another reason why adding spacers is a very good idea. We also recommend using UV glass or UV acrylic when framing.

Payment - We will send you an invoice. If you are interested in purchasing any of these pieces, please email us at info@flowerpressstudio.com and put the name of the piece in the Subject line. In the body of the email, please list any questions you have.

Plume & Furrow - SOLD

Plume & Furrow is located in Longmont, CO and is owned by Kim and Grant. We first engaged with this farm by pressing their flowers for the brides that hired them to create their wedding bouquet. One after another, the bouquets were always so unique and colorful. So when we decided to do a farm to print series, it was an easy choice for us to reach out to them to ask if they would participate in it.

This farm has more variety than we had seen and with each visit we made to the farm, we were handed buckets of flowers for the creation of this piece. As your eyes graze the piece, you will find yourself looking at a very diverse, colorful collection of flowers that all seem to be working off one another. I absolutely love this piece as it was also the first 30"x40"-ish original I made and going that large allowed me to experiment. Thank you Kim and Grant for being so involved with us. You all are super amazing people.

Size - approximately 30"x40"

Note - A small 2" indentation exists on the left edge but will be concealed when spacers are put in for framing.

Little Hollow & Red Daisy - SOLD

In this piece, we decided to combine flowers from Little Hollow Farm and Red Daisy Farm. Both are located in the Front Range of Colorado. Little Hollow is run by Dustin and Kate (about the friendliest of folks) and Meg, along with her family, run Red Daisy.

These were the last farm flowers I was designing with and I already knew I wanted to create a large 30"x40"-ish piece again but on black. So I looked through the presses and noticed the color combos from each farm would go so very well together, so I got to work. The direction I took with this one was also different. I have a habit of starting in the bottom left corner when I begin designing but this time I started smack dab in the middle. This allowed me to go in many directions and allow my flow to sort of develop a little more naturally. I of course attempted in the bottom left first but I could not find a good starting point. This piece has tons of small, medium, and large blooms and if you look at the center, you will see me using predominantly small and medium sized flowers that eventually made up my starting point.

When it comes to local flower farms, I urge you to support them. The people that operate these farms are humble and work their butts off to produce these beauties. Check out if they have a CSA, a retail shop, or if they attend your local farmers market. To end this segment, I will leave you with this statement I found on Little Hollows site. “We were surprised to learn that nearly 80 percent of fresh flowers sold in the United States and Canada are not grown in North America.” Buying from your local farm is fresh. Buying from somewhere where you have little knowledge of the farming practice, and waiting for the flowers to be transported by truck to boat to truck to a store is also not the image I see as fresh. :)

Artemis

Artemis Flower Farm is owned by Helen and Nelson. Again, salt of the Earth people. We met Helen back in 2022 when she drove down from her farm in Longmont, CO with her friends bouquet that she made with the flowers she grew, but also the bouquet consisted of the brides vegetables that she had grown. That was one beautiful bouquet. So instantly, we thought she was pretty amazing.

When we make pieces, we like to try new things. Artemis was a new one for us in terms of the paper color we chose for her flowers. When we think of flowers, we inevitable think of the Earth and what makes up the Earth, lots of soil, and this is how we chose brown. I also decided to create this piece using a bit more overlap design than any of the others as the flowers we pressed from Artemis had a lot of stems. We love stems. They always offer so much movement for a piece. I think when I was creating this piece, it must have been windy as that is also the direction I took. Wind blowing from West to East (if you were looking at a perfect True North compass). This piece has two straight edges on the top and bottom and deckled edges on the left and right.

Blossom and Branch - SOLD

Blossom and Branch Farm is owned by Briana in Denver, CO. The two things that pop into my mind about this farm and Briana are education and variety. Briana is a HUGE educator and has a YouTube channel all about regenerative farming. Her farm was the closest to us and so we sort of got to pop over whenever something new was popping up. This made for a really special piece.

In this piece, you will notice that is absolutely packed with flowers. I also experimented with a new design style that overall worked, but you have to focus in on the piece to see where the sections are. You see, Rachel, back in 2021, was inspired by a rug hooking artist named, Rose Pearlman. Rachel decided to make some of her own rug hooking patterns and thus I took a geometric rug hooking inspired style to this piece. I basically did the entire border and internal outlines first and then went from there. At first when I was doing this, I thought I made a huge mistake, but eventually when the outlines were done, I could relax a bit. When I started to fill in each section, I noticed it was quite hard to differentiate the sections. So it did work, and you can still see sections through the piece, but you got to work at it. It is kind of an eye game. Whoever does purchase this, I can help assist you with finding the sections. :)

This piece was also designed on a slightly different color paper than what I had done before. It has a slight pink/blush hue to it. It is hard to see in the photo, but it most certainly does. All four sides are deckled.
