Spring

What does Spring mean to you? For us, this picture sort of sums up what Spring means to us.

There are a bunch of fresh cut violas in a purple bowl.

For 3-5 months (depending on where you live), you experience cold temperatures, sometimes a dreary forecast that just does not give up, and a somewhat monochromatic color scheme. I am not here to badmouth Winter (because I absolutely love this season and its color schemes), but when Spring approaches, it is just a 180-degree turnaround from what you have been seeing for the last 4 months.

I created this piece during the Winter months of 2023, February to be exact. I was in my basement with very little natural light, white walls, and tables surrounding me with colorful florals. So I began the piece. Little by little, color was being added to my white canvas, and bit by bit, it grew, just as little green stems start emerging from the cold dirt of Winter.

Spring is a time of shedding layers, going outside to watch the transformation of your surroundings, and start planting (if you are into that). It's a restart. It is all about growth. With this piece, the wavy stems guide you along a new path, a fresh colorful start to the day. It activates your senses and just puts a smile on your face. That is Spring to us.
A bowl of fresh cut lilacs sits along side a piece of paper of pressed lilacs.
I hope each Spring you experience, you are able to treat yourself from its natural beauty. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful the seasons are, each giving us a plethora of things to enjoy and take part in.

Thanks for listening to me ramble on about Spring. Wish you a happy day.
